Beauty On The Go

My love of backpacking means I’ve become an expert at packing light – with only a small rucksack at your disposal, you have to be economic with what you carry. 

I have naturally oily skin which means that when I wear make-up, it has to be re-applied regularly and therefore, I take travelling as an opportunity to have periods where I go make-up free – this gives my skin a rest and allows it to breathe. However, that’s not to say there aren’t times I like to look glamourous on my travels and that’s when packing only the bear essential beauty products becomes a challenge that I have now conquered.  

Let me share my 5 beauty products of choice when space in your luggage is of a premium: 

1. Fit me foundation by Maybelline   Because I have oily skin, I have to avoid foundations that contain oil. This foundation is perfect for me because not only is it affordable, it is matte & poreless. To achieve a natural look, I recommend using sparingly to avoid it looking ‘cakey’. 

2. L’Oreal Paris True Match Super – Blendable Powder  This powder is ultra-fine and will give you a flawless look without any caking. Without any greasy oils, it blends perfectly with the skin and its compact size is perfect when travelling. 

3. Classic volume Express Waterproof Mascara by Maybelline 

I love this mascara because it is affordable and lasts for a long time – it is a must have for adventurous girls like me. 4. Maybelline City Bronze Bronzer 

I use this bronzer as an eye shadow, and I apply it to the contours of my face to give a warm and natural look. Its soft-milled pigments are ultra-blendable which creates a silky-smooth finish. Added to this, it’s like a perfume in that it smells divine. 

5. Givenchy Rouge Interdit Vinyl Lipstick, Noir Revelateur (Black) 

This is one of my favourite lipsticks because I love the texture, the extreme shine and the plumped-up look it exudes. It is perfect for travelling and is always with me for those regular top-ups throughout the day.
